An oblast centre is L’viv. Administrative-territorial division: 20 districts. It is the most Western part of Ukraine. The diversity of natural conditions predefined its location in different physical-geographical regions. The highest point is Pikui Mountain(1405 m). The climate is moderately continental. The major rivers are: the Dniester, the Western Buh, the Stryi, the Vereshytsia. L’viv oblast was established in 1939. Territory: 21,8 thousands sq. km. Over 90% of the population are Ukrainians.
